Modified Asphalt (RPMA)

​ Modified Asphalt

 

RPMA stands for Rubber Polymer Modified Asphalt. It is a Pre-Mix type modified asphalt product which is

produced through the long-term physicochemical process in which polymer SBS(synthetic rubber) is mixed 

with straight asphalt and special catalyst at high temperature using a high shearing homogenizer mixer.​

Key Point

The product extends the life of pavement and provides comfortable and safe road, because physical and chemical properties of asphalt(viscosity, elasticity, adhesion, stability, flexibility, etc.) are greatly improved by adding a high-temperature modifier (SBS) to efficiently prevent weaknesses of straight asphalt (AP-5) pavement such as plastic deformation(rutting) in high-temperature, cracks in low-temperature and fatigue cracks on the road.

​ Modified SMA(RPMA 70-22/ 76-22/ 82-22)

 

The products are made by adding fiber reinforced agents to prevent Asphalt flow on Mastic(filler + PG76-22) with techniques which maximize resistance against plastic deformation by minimizing the effects of deformation and elimination and cracking of aggregates under conditions of the optimal interlocking of characteristics of particle sizes of aggregates.

◆ Modified Asphalt - Fluidity (RPMA 70-22/ 76-22)


The product extends the life of pavement and provides comfortable and safe road, because physical and

chemical properties of asphalt ( viscosity, elasticity, adhesion, stability, flexibility, etc. ) are greatly improved

by adding natural rubber powder ( crumb rubber ) and highly polymerized chemical substance( polymer ) to

efficiently prevent weaknesses of straight asphalt (AP-3/5) pavement such as summer plastic deformation,

winter low-temperature cracking, and shock fatigue cracking.

2. Increased for skid-resistance on the road caused by rough surface. Decreased noise-reduction during vehicle driving.

Low noise Drainage (RPMA 82-22)

 

Asphalt for low noise drainage pavement is the product which improves the adhesion to aggregates and enhances weather resistance and semi-rigidity, because asphalt mixture is designed to drain water and reduce noises through pavement of the surface layer with porosity of more than 18 % for the purpose to reduce noise occurring when the vehicles are running, hydroplaning and splashing phenomena when it rains.

night and rainy day, improved cognitive performance
for visual indication of water when it rains the road.

3. Skid-resistance: Prevented traffic accidents caused by skid vehicle with having excellent drainage effects.

Low Noise Fluidity (RPMA 82-22)

 

Asphalt for low noise pavement is the product which improves the adhesion to aggregates and enhances weather and water resistance by adding polymer with high viscosity, because asphalt mixture is designed   to reduce noises through pavement of the surface layer with porosity of 8~15 % for the purpose to reduce noise occurring when the vehicles are running.

1. Reduction of noise: Absorbed noise that occurred between vehicles tires and road surface, also improved living environment with low-noise around the road.

2. Other functions: Excellent effected plastic deformation resistance, excellent prevented low-temperature cracking with excellent flexibility, improved in skid resistance (prevented of traffic accidents with skid resistance when it rains.)

2. Road required to increase skid resistance because of high risks of traffic accidents.
